Sick Days

Rose and I have been sick for the last day and a half. Cough, stuffy nose, headache, fever, sore throat, sensitive skin...no fun. But, it's been a very interesting experience...I feel closer to her. I am made for this, among so many other things, but this is my job, it is in my nature to be able to go nights without sleep and take care of my baby. I feel what she needs, I comfort her, I pour my love into her. This is motherhood, this is the most difficult, amazing, rewarding job in the whole world.

Update

It has been too long since I last posted! Rose is now 5 1/2 months old and she is absolutely wonderful!
When she was first born her long feet could bend back and touch her shin, this was a sign she was a little early (roughly ten days). It was the most darling thing when she would cough, and she would do the cutest poop face!
Rose had a sensitive tummy at the beginning. I had to cut out eggs, wheat, dairy, corn and sugar for a while. She would get so sad and we'd have to hold her in certain positions to help her stomach feel better, it was so sad. But we made it through!
She was not a fan of her bathtub the first time we tried it out but she loved the shower. She started rolling over at 4 months and now at 5 1/2 months she is getting close to crawling! She will get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth and then lift her cute bum in the air like downward-facing dog. She is so fun.
She loves being in the Moby wrap while I cook and do dishes, and she is the cutest thing in her doorway jumper!
Rose is a real talker, she will chatter on for hours. She likes practicing throaty sounds and growling. Another one of her favorite things is when Tyson or I move our finger back and forth between her lips while she moves her voice up and down, so funny.
She has the best smile and the brightest big eyes. There is so much I could tell you about her, but I think this is enough--the rest is stored in my memory and in my heart. I love this little girl so much.

38 Weeks

I am now 38 weeks along and ready for this babe! Ty and I went camping over Saturday night so he could do some scouting for the hunt. I had a little bit of a hard time sleeping because of the contractions and difficulty getting comfy but we had a great time together :) My contractions feel different, I think I'm starting to open up. I've had the clear discharge the past couple days which is another sign of opening and I've been diligent about finishing the HB book and doing my relaxations. While I was at Powell, Ty got everything we need for the birthing pool and even moved our room around to see how it would all fit. He's wonderful. So now we are just waiting for this baby to be ready! Tyson and I are so excited :)

I Love This Man

Lake Powell

So...I ended up going to Lake Powell with my family while Tyson stayed home and worked. It was super fun! I stayed in a tent with my sisters (Edens hubby didn't go either) and we had some good laughs in that tent! I had to pee at least three times a night and we were sleeping on a blow up mattress so that was pretty exciting...by the last night I was really ready for my own bed! Eden did henna on my belly one afternoon, and I surfed behind the boat for realsies! Also we all swam to the little island one day, which felt amazing to my body! I love water. I went home early with Janelle and we chatted the whole 7 hours, she's an amazing woman. It was so fabulous to see Ty after 5 days, I missed him like crazy.

Country Gardens Nursery

Today after taking lunch to Ty (we sat out in the shade of a tree by the shop, it was very cute and picnic-y), I stopped by the Country Gardens Nursery to check out their tomato and bell pepper plants. I really like that place, it feels "countryish" and they have good prices and great plants. An older man helped me and I came home with six Omar's Lebanese heirloom tomato plants, two different types of cherry tomato plants, four red bell pepper plants, four green bell pepper plants, and a bag of fertilizer. All for $28! It was awesome, I was ecstatic. When I got home I put on a long sleeved, button up shirt to protect my arms and the back of my neck from the sun (I got roasted on Saturday) and started planting. I then sprinkled the whole garden with the fertilizers and gave it a good watering. I'm excited to show Tyson when he gets home.
